Ahoy All,

As this winter, which seems to have lasted at least ten months, slowly comes to an end, we can look forward to removing tarps, covers and shrink wrap, and once again turning our boats into clean and shiny sailing vessels. Unlike last year, when I was working in Mexico, I had to stay here and experience the wrath of winter. Then after being given the perfect “out” by my cardiology rehab nurse, “you can never shovel snow again,” I had to go ask the doctor if that was really the case? Let this be a reminder, you should never ask a question unless you know the answer – because I ended the winter as the primary snow shoveler in our family! Oh well, as you all know, I could certainly use the exercise!

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Club members who have agreed to serve in officer and chairman(woman)ship positions this year. We are fortunate to have longstanding members willing to pitch in once again and newer members willing to take the plunge and serve for the first time.

From the bits and pieces I’ve heard over the winter, it sounds like the cruise co-chairs, Becky and Judi, have worked very hard to plan a fantastic season of cruising with both new and old locations in the mix. Jean and I look forward to attending as many as possible this summer.

I attended a meeting of the Anchor Bay Yacht Racing Association (ABYRA) to set the Anchor Bay racing programs for the coming summer. I thank Mike Bracket and Steve Maynard for representing CRCA with me on this committee.

I look forward to seeing everybody at the Commodore’s Ball and experiencing the new venue, Gino’s Surf. I’m sure it will be a great party again this year.
